Penny Shubnell—A Living Example of the Community Spirit!
Shubnell was nominated on the grounds that she “has been an active member of multiple organizations, always at the forefront of fundraising, event support and leadership. She’s an inspiration to all those who are lucky enough to work with her.”
In her 23 years on the mountain, Shubnell has shown dedication and hard work in giving back to the community and helping people in their time of need.
Among the organizations she’s involved in are the Crestline Sanitation District serving as a board member, the annual Crestline Health Fair, and the Crestline Friends of the Library. According to her nomination, she’s also one of the “principle people” working with the county to develop the “Give BIG” program, a 24-hour online fundraiser that dedicates its time to helping nonprofit businesses not only raise money, but also to build an online presence, which is important in today’s online world.
The one that is most “dear to my heart” she said, is her work with the Mountain Senior Citizens. She’s been working on the San Moritz Senior nutrition program for 10 years and takes “great pride in that work. I’m truly an advocate for seniors.” Read more…
